Pregnant and single, Jane Fosset (Leslie Caron) takes a room in a shoddy London boardinghouse inhabited by an assortment of oddballs. Soon, she finds herself enfolded in this quirky community of characters and begins a relationship with a struggling young writer (Tom Bell). But she still faces the dilemma of what to do with her unborn baby. Caron won a Best British Actress BAFTA Award for her performance in this classic drama.
