After discovering that her husband's been having an affair, Melanie Leroy (Talia Shire) speeds up the " 'til death do us part" clause of her wedding vows and kills her mate in cold blood. Searching for an ideal husband to step into the dead man's shoes, Melanie takes over as the landlady in a rundown apartment building. Soon -- but not soon enough -- an unsuspecting tenant (Jack Coleman) discovers that he's the new Mr. Right.
