In his feature-film debut, director Bruno Dumont follows the life of brutish 20-year-old Freddy (David Douche) and his gang of mean-spirited, unemployed friends, who battle boredom and aimlessness in Northern France. When he's not at the hospital getting treated for epilepsy, Freddy and his pals make harmless trouble for the local Arab immigrants. But violence and racism erupt when a young Arab proposes to Freddy's girlfriend (Marjorie Cottreel).
