The Maids

Part of the American Film Theatre series, The Maids depicts the lives of two maid sisters, Solange (Glenda Jackson) and Claire (Susannah York), who resent the stringent rules and incessant demands of their Madame (Vivian Merchant). When their superior leaves the house, the sisters dress up like her and trade insults. Psychological and societal parallels are drawn in the truest existentialist form throughout this dialogue-driven film.
