The Mask of Diijon

This moody thriller centers on Diijon (Erich von Stroheim), a retired magician known for his spectacular illusions. Debts force him to return to work, but when his first night as a cabaret hypnotist goes terribly wrong, the humiliation pushes him over the edge. Diijon suspects his young wife's (Jeanne Bates) former lover (William Wright) of sabotaging his trick and devises a scheme to exact revenge through hypnotism. Edward Van Sloan co-stars.
