Robert Armstrong brings his undeniable star quality to this pair of classic noir features -- The Mystery Man (1935) and The Racketeer (1929) -- both of which find him mixed up with the wrong kind of woman. First, Armstrong plays a reporter who quits his job and gets involved with a strange woman (Maxine Doyle) and a string of St. Louis murders. Then, he falls in love with a troubled female (Carole Lombard) who's still supporting her alcoholic ex.
