The New Adventures of Heidi

This made-for-television film transplants Johanna Spyri's plucky, braided heroine from 18th century Switzerland to modern-day New York City. When her kindly grandfather (Burl Ives) falls ill, young Heidi (Katy Kurtzman) gets dispatched to the Big Apple to live with odious relatives, leaving behind her beloved alpine home. But Heidi soon charms her way into the hearts of the steely Gothamites in this 1978 children's musical.
