The Offence
(1973)Something Like the Truth
|
A case of child molestation shakes levelheaded British police inspector Sgt. Johnson (Sean Connery, in a first-rate performance) -- to the point of killing the suspect (Ian Bannen) during the interrogation. Suspended from the force, Johnson suffers a nervous breakdown and soon realizes he possesses tendencies similar to those of the perpetrator. Director Sidney Lumet's unsettling character study is based on a play by John Hopkins.
