In 1865, Dr. Samuel Mudd (Dennis Weaver) set the broken leg of Lincoln assassin John Wilkes Booth and became an unwitting accomplice in one of America's darkest crimes. Wrongly framed as Booth's co-conspirator, Mudd suffered years of hardship at a brutal penal colony. Eventually, through the ceaseless pleading of Mudd's wife, Frances (Susan Sullivan), President Andrew Johnson pardoned the doctor. A made-for-TV movie.
