Alida Valli, the Italian actress dubbed "the next Garbo," received a Golden Globe nomination for her work in this film about a deaf and mute tramp who finds a bank note worth a small fortune while scavenging a Mexico City dump. Noted Mexican director Ismael Rodríguez directs, and Ignacio López Tarso (who received a Best Actor award at the San Francisco International Film Festival for his work) stars as the hearing-impaired tramp.
