Berenice (Martha Navarro), a mysterious, brooding young widow, is a curiosity to her fellow townspeople. Scarred by the fire that killed her husband, Berenice now lives with her sickly godmother and rarely leaves the house. When she meets her godmother's handsome young doctor, however, he awakens her dormant passions and fantasies … but it soon becomes clear to him that Berenice harbors some secrets.
