Before there was a cell phone in every pocket and a Starbucks on every corner, there was the humble coffeehouse -- where in the Los Angeles of the 1980s, artists of all stripes met to share their work and create a community. The Pikme-Up -- profiled here -- was one such place. Featuring appearances by Viggo Mortensen, Phranc, Exene Cervenka, Beck and more, this documentary provides a portrait of the place where a vibrant subculture was born.
