The Place Without Limits

  (1977)
In director Arturo Ripstein's incisive critique of Latin machismo culture, transvestite La Manuela (Roberto Cobo) runs a bordello with his prostitute daughter, Japonesita (Ana Martin). When land baron Don Alejo (Fernando Soler) threatens to take over and sell the cathouse (along with the rest of the town), La Manuela employs his erotic flamenco skills to seduce the Alejo's henchman (Gonzalo Vega). Lucha Villa plays Japonesita's impolitic mother.
