Cecil B. DeMille envisions a time filled with drama and romance in this Western nail-biter about Wild Bill Hickock's (Gary Cooper) battle to end a Native American revolt. Meanwhile, change and instability sweep the nation. History is shaped by President Lincoln's tragic assassination and Gen. Custer's infamous last stand, but love also holds top priority, as Hickock slowly falls for the fiery Calamity Jane (Jean Arthur).
