When his daughter is murdered by her classmate, a grieving father and widower (Masahiro Kobayashi) starts a new life in northern Japan. At a local inn, he realizes that a cook (Makiko Watanabe) is the mother of his daughter's murderer, and an unlikely bond develops between them. Japanese indie auteur Kobayashi directs himself in this tense drama, winner of the Golden Leopard at the Locarno International Film Festival.
