Anna Bouverie (Lindsay Duncan), a dutiful rector's wife, scandalizes the town and infuriates her husband when she takes a job outside the home. Torn between her new-found independence, which includes the flattering attentions of three men, and her loyalty to family, her act of rebellion threatens to change her world forever. This provocative look at the clash of religion, tradition and change also stars Jonathan Coy and Stephen Dillane.
