The Sea Beast

John Barrymore stars as Capt. Ahab Ceeley in this silent film version of the Moby Dick story. When Ahab and his stepbrother Derek (George O'Hara) both fall for the minister's daughter, Esther Wiscasset (Dolores Costello), it causes a rift in their relationship. Derek pushes Ahab off their ship, and an albino whale promptly amputates Ahab's leg. The vain Esther rejects the now-handicapped Ahab, who takes his anger out on the whale.
