The Skin Game

  (1931)
Based on a John Galsworthy play, this early Hitchcock film focuses on two families: the self-made Hornblowers and the old-money Hillcrests. When Mr. Hornblower (Edmund Gwenn) sets his sights on a forest owned by the Hillcrests, no amount of money will convince Mr. Hillcrest (C.V. France) to sell. To get rid of the pesky Hornblower clan, Mrs. Hillcrest (Helen Haye) considers sharing some naughty information about one of its members.
