John Thaw is in fine form starring as solicitor's clerk Joshua Mantle, who's called upon to investigate the events that caused British intelligence officer Tracy Barnes (Zara Turner) to assault -- seemingly without provocation -- a visiting East German politician (Dieter Krause). Stonewalled by his superior (Colin Baker), Joshua ends up joining forces with Tracy to unravel a mystery involving murder and a far-reaching conspiracy.
