When U.S. Army Maj. Clark Allen (Dale Robertson) begins walking the length of Japan to raise money to rebuild an orphanage destroyed during the war, he gets the attention of Japanese citizens -- including at least one who's dubious about the American's motives. As Allen traipses the countryside, a Japanese newsman traces Allen's past, hoping to discover why the soldier has undertaken the mission. Frank Sinatra Jr. and Toshirô Mifune co-star.
