Emmy-winning filmmaker Ric Burns takes a photographic journey across a period of American history that is largely untold: The Westward expansion of the late 1800s. In this four-part documentary written from the perspective of the Native Americans, actors read aloud the letters, diaries, and memoirs of the pioneering men and women who settled the Old West. Racial conflicts and battlefield action abound as these explosive years come to life.
