New to Naples and feeling a sense of isolation, Maria's (Margherita Buy) life is driven deeper into a state of emotional limbo while she waits for her newborn daughter, Irene, to grow beyond the perils of the neonatal ward and hospital's preemie incubator. Francesca Comencini's study of one woman's reconciliation of her daughter's struggle for life with her own misery was nominated for a Golden Lion Award at the 66th Annual Venice Film Festival.
