A lyrical epic, the second chapter of filmmaker Tengiz Abuladze's trilogy exploring human principles centers on the hopes and fantasies of beautiful young Marita (Lika Kavjaradze) and the quest to find a fabled tree that turns dreams into reality. After arriving in a small village to live with her aunt, Marita falls in love with penniless Gedya (Soso Jachvliani), but relatives and the town elders are determined to wed her to a local man of means.
