Based on a play by a Danish pastor who was murdered by the Nazis, this Golden Globe winner from legendary Danish director Carl Theodor Dreyer illuminates the conflict between personal faith and organized religion. The tale is of a widower and his three sons: While dad Morten (Henrik Malberg) questions the tenets of the church, one son is an agnostic, another is engaged in an interfaith romance and the third believes he's Jesus Christ.
