Though slightly mentally disabled, Margaret Thomas (Jean Smart) manages her household and children with the help of her husband, Jake (Robert Pastorelli), in this poignant drama. But when Jake's schizophrenia intensifies, leaving him unable to care for the family, Margaret must assume more responsibility. Soon, child welfare authorities want to take the kids away, forcing Margaret to prove in court that she's a capable caregiver.
