Exterminator Ángel Bengoelxeo (Carmelo Gómez) journeys to the scorched red hills of a Spanish vineyard to eradicate the wood lice that are denaturing the taste of the wine. Before long, two women steal his heart: the unhappily wed Ángela (Emma Suárez) and her spouse's seductive, libertine mistress, Mari (Silke). Engulfed in conflicting feelings, Ángel struggles to find inner peace in director Julio Medem's haunting allegorical film.
