In this TV miniseries, author John Le Carré's wily spy George Smiley (Alec Guinness) is pulled out of retirement for a case that comes from officials close to the British prime minister. Seems a senior-ranking official from Smiley's old agency is a Russian spy, and it's up to Smiley to smoke him out ... all without access to circus files that could aid in the capture. One of the best TV adaptations of Le Carré's mysteries.
