After her husband dies, aristocrat Audrey Forbes-Hamilton (Penelope Keith) finds that she's nearly penniless and is forced to sell her beloved Grantleigh Manor to a man who aspires to stature, Richard De Vere (Peter Bowles). But Audrey won't let go of her old way of life, despite the presence of her new landlord. This classic British television series mines the foibles of class warfare and comes up with scads of laughs.
