Instructor Todd Roach leads this streamlined tutorial designed to have you playing the doumbek -- a popular Middle Eastern drum -- sooner rather than later. Lessons focus on developing rhythmic accuracy and learning conventional Baladi, Maksoum and 3-3-2 rhythms. Roach also demonstrates the instrument's capabilities with help from special guest Fred Stubbs, who plays the ney, a type of Middle Eastern flute.
