Based on Henry Fielding's novel, this four-time Oscar winner (including Best Picture) also scores points for outrageous comedy. Orphaned as an infant and adopted by Squire Allworthy (George Devine), the devilishly handsome, womanizer Tom (Albert Finney) truly loves only one: Sophie. His adventurous attempts to woo her lead him to London, where a duel with a jealous husband lands Tom in prison, and only the secret of his birth can save his life.
