When a troubled young man commits suicide, dedicated schoolteacher Paulette Gill (Gail O'Grady) is suddenly accused of having seduced him. The whole school community leaps to an unfounded conclusion and suspects Paulette of having slept with the student (in effect, pushing him "off the ledge"). In fact, she was simply trying to help him, and now the harried teacher must defend her innocence to a skeptical town. Costars Keith Carradine.
