When a career gambler named Elric (Jacques Dutronc) meets a beautiful woman (Bulle Ogier) he believes to be his muse, he pays her to spend the week with him and pulls her into a roulette wheel scam that makes them wealthy beyond their wildest dreams. But as the couple begins to prosper, Elric realizes that he isn't happy with his winnings. It seems that the seductive lure of gambling is the one thing he truly loves.
