Loosely based on real events and helmed by French new wave director Eric Rohmer, this nuanced drama tinged with Hitchcockian overtones is set in 1930s Paris amid political turmoil on all fronts. When exiled czarist general Fiodor (Serge Renko) becomes increasingly secretive, his dismayed wife, Arsinoé (Katerina Didaskalu), suspects him of infidelity but later discovers that her inscrutable spouse is a spy.
