Raj (Sanjeev Kumar) and Shanti (Waheeda Rehman) plan to wed, until Raj's mother convinces him to marry into money -- just as Shanti reveals that she is pregnant. Years later, Shanti urges her son, Vijay (Amitabh Bachchan), to seek revenge against the man who abandoned them, now a wealthy businessman. Vijay starts a company of his own to put his father out of business, and the two engage in a fierce battle of wits and wills. Yash Chopra directs.
