Upon meeting Frenchman Claude Roc (Jean-Pierre Léaud) in Paris, sculptress Ann Brown (Kika Markham) asks him to spend the holidays with her family in Britain, intending for Claude to fall in love with her sister (Stacey Tendeter). But when Ann develops feelings for Claude, complications ensue. Director François Truffaut's deeply moving depiction of a painful love triangle is based on Henri-Pierre Roché's novel.
