In this symbolic trio of tales set on the island of Bali, three women -- or "seeds" -- face difficult choices and stark realities as they navigate the often painful road of life. Maharani wants to know more about her roots yet remains an outsider, despite her best attempts. The pregnant Dewi is forced to choose between two equally awful outcomes. And the teenage Nian must find a father figure when her dad is sent to prison.
