While entangled in an adulterous affair, young Parisian Charlotte (Macha Meril) discovers that she is with child and is immediately faced with the decision to either stay with her husband, Pierre (Philippe Leroy), or forge a new life with her lover, Robert (Bernard Noel). Cinema pioneer Jean-Luc Godard continues to explore the enigmatic relationships between men and women with this trenchant examination of love, lust and infidelity.
