Maestro Antonio Pappano is at the helm for this epic performance of Giuseppe Verdi's "Don Carlos," starring Roberto Alagna as the Spanish prince torn by international politics from his French love, Elizabeth, played unerringly by Karita Mattila. Staged at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, the acclaimed production's stellar supporting cast includes baritone Thomas Hampson, bass Eric Halfvarson and mezzo-soprano Waltraud Meier.
