The life of cabaret dancer Violeta (Ninon Sevilla) takes a few surprising turns after she rescues an abandoned baby on her way home from Mexico City's red-light district in this affecting tale helmed by Emilio Fernandez. When Violeta resolves to raise the child herself, she runs afoul of a flamboyant pimp (Rodolfo Acosta) but unexpectedly gets help from a rival club owner (Tito Junco). The supporting cast includes Cuban megastar Rita Montaner.
