After studying abroad in London, Shakti (Anil Kapoor) returns to the Indian village where he grew up, only to find the town torn apart by discord between his landowner father, Raja Thakur, and his father's crippled brother, Biruj. Raja's sudden death forces Shakti to take over the family business and to try to placate the feuding factions. But Biruj's hotheaded son makes matters worse as he's determined to run Shakti out of town -- or kill him.
