After outrunning a typhoon at sea, a strong-willed tugboat navigator (Jamie Lee Curtis) and her crew (including William Baldwin and Donald Sutherland) discover a high-tech alien life form that's taken control of a Russian research vessel and aims to destroy on a massive scale. The sailors must stop the mysterious force that's come to annex Earth before it begins churning out biomechanical monstrosities with one deadly goal: to eliminate humanity.
