On the open prairie of Oklahoma, a pretty schoolteacher (Martha Scott) comes between two bitter rivals, Dan Somers (John Wayne) and Jim "Hunk" Gardner (Albert Dekker), who split their time between fighting for the lady and competing for oil lease rights on Indian land. Having hated each other for years, the cowboys eventually come to blows in a climactic, old-fashioned chase scene. Dale Evans co-stars as a dance-hall singer named Cuddles.
