In this family drama set in the Washington Heights section of Manhattan, an aspiring comic-book artist (Manny Perez) yearns to escape his Latino neighborhood and make a name for himself further downtown. But he must postpone his ambitions and take over his Dominican family's bodega (grocery store/liquor store) when his father is crippled by a gunshot from a robber.
