Gambler Lewton Cole (James Coburn) makes the biggest bet of his life when, armed with nothing but a dubious map and a "borrowed" horse, he sets out to unearth a cache of valuables buried somewhere in Integrity, Az. But before he can collect the big payoff, he must fend off other bounty-seekers who have the same plan. Even the sheriff (Carroll O'Connor) has his eye on the prize, and on Cole, whom he considers his stiffest competition.
