When Dimitri (Frederic March) returns from military service in Czarist Russia, he's ecstatic to discover that his childhood sweetheart, Katusha (Anna Sten), has grown into a beautiful and desirable woman. But there's a big stumbling block: Dimitri's a prince, while Katusha's a lowly commoner, and in imperial Russia, such a romance is forbidden! Rouben Mamoulian directs this drama based on the classic novel by Leo Tolstoy.
