Former U.S. President Monroe Cole (Gene Hackman) plans to retire in a small northeastern coastal town, but he has his hands full when he tries to fill an empty mayoral seat. The unlikely opposition comes from unassuming hardware store owner Handy Harrison (Ray Romano). Harrison quickly proves to be a bona fide man of the people -- and wildly popular. This comedy also stars Maura Tierney and Marcia Gay Harden.
