In this thriller, small-town lawman Ray Dolezal (Willem Dafoe) gets in over his head when he assumes a dead man's identity after finding his rotting body -- and a nearby briefcase containing $500,000 -- in the New Mexico desert. A little sleuthing and an autopsy yield a vital clue to the mystery, but Ray gets caught in an FBI sting intended to snare a slick arms broker (Mickey Rourke) and his enigmatic intermediary (Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio).
