Inspired by Goethe's poetry series The Roman Elegies, this absurdist tragicomedy from filmmaker Roy Andersson comprises a series of 50 interconnected shorts that explore the dark side of existence and the complexity of the human condition. Andersson's twisted fable touches on joy and pain and mines the bleakest circumstances time and again to reveal a surprising, often shocking, element of humor.
