Elderly Civil War veteran Joel Bentham (Harry Davenport) is awarded $50,000 upon the death of his Army buddy, Tom Riggins. Suddenly wealthy, Joel moves into Tom's former country house -- along with a beautiful tramp (Dorothea Kent) he picked up along the way. Fulfilling a promise to his comrade in arms, Joel contacts Tom's estranged grandson, Ray (Robert Wilcox) … who turns out to be a conniving louse intent on bilking Joel out of the cash.
