Bored with his uneventful life and in search of inspiration, aspiring poet Henrik Larsen (Gard B. Eidsvold) leaves the comforts of his Oslo home for the harsh elements of Greenland, where he joins a fur-trapping expedition led by a grizzled hunter named Randbæk (Stellan Skarsgård). As the grueling expedition grows increasingly trying, the men work feverishly to stay alive, battling the merciless elements as well as one another.
